Ministry Update – Solar Upgrade at Gathaithi OVC, Kenya

We begin this update with deep gratitude for the immeasurable support you continue to give us. Your prayers, generosity, and consistent partnership are truly the lifeblood of the work happening at Gathaithi OVC – Kenya. Because of your faithfulness, we are seeing lives changed and practical needs met in ways that bring dignity, hope, and sustainability.

We are excited to share progress on our ongoing solar upgrade project. Recently, we acquired three solar panels dedicated to powering the kitchen section. This has already made a noticeable difference, reducing our reliance on the national grid and ensuring a more consistent energy supply for meal preparation. However, to complete this phase, we are still in need of one more panel at a cost of $360. We are trusting God for this provision and believe we will soon see it come through.

In addition, after careful evaluation, we’ve decided to set up an independent solar system for the Girls’ Dormitory. The energy needs there are modest – mainly lighting and powering a 100-gallon commercial tank used for hot showers. To make this setup effective and self-sufficient, we are currently fundraising for $3,720. This will cover:

  • 6 solar panels – $1,320
  • Mounting tracks – $200
  • Inverter – $1,000
  • 2 large batteries – $1,200
  • Plus labor and associated logistics

This independent setup will not only improve the reliability of power to the dormitory but will also allow us to cut down significantly on our power bills, enabling us to redirect funds to other critical areas such as education, nutrition, and medical care for the children.

We are trusting that with your continued support, this next phase will be accomplished soon. Each dollar contributed goes a long way in creating a safe, efficient, and nurturing environment for the children in our care.

Thank you once again for standing with us. Baruch Hashem.
