24th March 2025: Update on the Messianic Hope OVC Projects: Chicken Coop and Washroom Doors Improvements
At Messianic Hope OVC in Gilgil, we are excited to share some important updates on our ongoing projects. The work on the chicken coop is nearing completion, and we are also making significant progress on the replacement of washroom doors. We are grateful for the support of our community and donors, and we want to share our current progress and future needs as we continue to improve the facilities for the children at Messianic Hope.
The Chicken Coop Project: Nearing the Finish Line
One of the most exciting developments at Messianic Hope OVC is the completion of the inside cages and doors for the chicken coop. This part of the project has been a key milestone, as it will provide the children with the opportunity to raise chickens, which will not only serve as a sustainable source of food but also teach them valuable skills in animal husbandry.
The chicken coop has been designed to provide a safe, clean, and efficient space for the chickens, ensuring that they have a comfortable environment to thrive in. Thanks to the hard work of our volunteers and generous donations, we have successfully built all the inside cages and installed the necessary doors.
At this stage, we are looking forward to starting the next phase of the project: constructing a steel-fenced compound for the chickens. This fenced-in area will provide a secure outdoor space where the chickens can roam, graze, and enjoy a healthy, natural environment. The steel fencing will also ensure that the chickens are safe from predators, further enhancing the sustainability of the project.
We are incredibly proud of the progress made so far, and we’re eager to complete the fenced-in compound to give the chickens a space where they can thrive and continue to support the needs of the children at Messianic Hope OVC.
Washroom Door Replacement Project: A Much-Needed Upgrade
Another ongoing project at Messianic Hope OVC is the replacement of the washroom doors, an urgent improvement that is essential to maintaining the safety and comfort of the children. The existing washroom doors are old, beaten up, and no longer functioning properly, making the facilities unsafe and uncomfortable to use.
So far, we have managed to replace two doors on the Boy’s side of the washrooms, but there is still work left to do. We need to replace one more door on the Boy’s side, and three doors on the Girl’s side. These doors are crucial for the privacy and security of the children, and replacing them will help ensure that the washrooms meet basic standards of hygiene and safety.
The children at Messianic Hope OVC deserve the best possible environment, and we are committed to providing them with clean, safe, and functional facilities. Replacing these doors will be a major step toward achieving that goal, and we are calling on the support of our community to help us complete this project.
Fundraising Goals: How You Can Help
To complete both the chicken coop fencing and the washroom door replacement projects, we are fundraising a total of $1,900. These funds will cover the costs of the materials, labor, and any additional expenses needed to complete the work. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a significant impact and bring us closer to our goal of providing a better living and learning environment for the children at Messianic Hope OVC.
We are confident that with your support, we can get both projects finished sooner and continue to make a positive impact on the lives of the children who rely on Messianic Hope OVC.
Thank you to all who have contributed so far, and to those considering supporting us now. Together, we can make a lasting difference in the lives of these children.
