9th January 2025, Messianic Hope OVC Gilgil : Progress Update on the Garden Box Project: Phase Two and Ongoing Fundraising Efforts

We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of the second phase of our Garden Box Project at Messianic Hope OVC in Gilgil, an initiative that continues to make a profound difference in the lives of the children and communities we serve. The first phase of the project was an incredible success, thanks to the unwavering support from our partners, donors, and volunteers. Together, we were able to establish the foundation for a sustainable agricultural system that not only nourishes but also empowers orphanages by providing them with the tools to be more self-sufficient.

As we embark on the second phase of the project, we are excited to share the progress we’ve made and outline the next steps in our journey toward sustainability. This phase includes the addition of five more water tanks, the setup of an irrigation system, and the provision of labor and other essential logistical support. The total cost to complete this phase is $1,200, which will cover the purchase of the tanks, the irrigation setup, and the associated labor costs. This investment will ensure that the garden boxes continue to thrive and provide consistent food production for the orphanage, while also contributing to their long-term self-sufficiency.

Our ministry’s original aspiration for this project has always been to create income-generating activities that will provide the orphanages with the means to support themselves. By expanding the garden box project, we are moving closer to this goal, allowing these orphanages to become more independent and reduce their reliance on external assistance. The impact of this project extends far beyond simply growing food—it helps to cultivate a sense of pride, responsibility, and resilience within the children and the communities they belong to.
