Ministry Update – 1st June 2025, Power crisis at Messianic Hope OVC…

Greetings! We begin this update by sincerely thanking each and every one of you—our beloved partners and friends in the ministry—for your unwavering support, your prayers, and your sacrificial giving. Your partnership continues to be a source of strength, encouragement, and tangible impact in the lives of the children and communities we serve.

We want to bring to your attention an urgent situation that recently arose at Messianic Hope OVC in Gilgil. A major power crisis has struck the area. The power transformer supplying hydroelectricity to the region has blown out, leaving the entire area without electricity. Unfortunately, because this is a remote location, it may take up to six months to get a replacement transformer installed by the local authorities.

This outage has created serious challenges for the orphanage. Without electricity, there is no water pressure, and our freezer—which is essential for storing meat and preserving vegetables—has become unusable, putting our food supplies at risk of spoilage. In these circumstances, every hour without power could lead to waste and shortage.

Thanks to the grace of God and the generosity of our supporters, we were able to respond swiftly. An electrician traveled to the site, and with the help of funds from our partners, we installed a changeover switch and a special plug that allows us to use a generator. This has partially restored power to the facility, enabling some essential functions to continue.

However, due to the high cost of fuel, we are only able to run the generator for six hours a day. This solution, while helpful, is not sustainable for the long term. As a result, we have launched a fundraiser to install a permanent solar power backup system.

Solar Power Initiative

We need a system with an output capacity of 8000 watts. By God’s provision, and thanks to your incredible generosity, we have made significant progress:

• We have received $1800 so far toward this initiative.
• On Monday, we will be picking up our new inverter.
• From the received funds, we are also purchasing two sets of aluminum panel tracks to hold 8 solar panels of 600 watts each. These tracks cost $400 and are fully covered.
• We have also purchased two 600-watt panels at a total of $640 that we will be picking up on Tuesday.

This leaves us with a remaining need of six 600-watt solar panels, which will cost $1920. This is our primary focus this week. If we can raise this amount, we will be able to install daytime solar power, even before the battery system is completed.

In addition, we will also need:

• A new 150-amp breaker box, complete with power breakers.
• 20 feet of 10.2 mm DC red and black wire, costing $110.

We’ve also been contacted by an anonymous donor who has expressed a willingness to help with the battery system. The full cost of batteries is $4800, and this generous party has committed to cover at least half. We are truly in awe of God’s faithfulness and provision!

We are praying and believing that God will move on the hearts of many this week to help us secure the remaining six panels. If we achieve this, we can have consistent daytime power, keeping water flowing and food safe until the full solar system is up and running.

We also want to take this opportunity to remind you of our weekly needs for our orphanages and outreaches. Every week, we require a minimum of $1400 to ensure food, clothing, medical care, education, and outreach activities continue without disruption. Additionally, we have identified a new area of need nearby that will require an extra $250 weekly, which we hope to absorb once we have more steady, dedicated partners.
