Ministry Update – Shifting Focus to Gathaithi OVC
Dear Friends and Ministry Partners,
We thank God for the progress we’ve been able to make recently at Messianic Hope OVC in Gilgil. With your support and prayers, much-needed work has been accomplished there over the past few months. We are so grateful for what has been done — but now, it is time to shift our focus to Gathaithi OVC, where it has been quite a while since we’ve carried out any significant upgrades, repairs, or maintenance.
At Gathaithi OVC, there are several areas urgently in need of attention. First, we’re looking at a necessary electrical upgrade. Currently, 12 LED lights across the facility need replacing, and two store rooms are without any lighting at all — which makes them difficult and even unsafe to use. We plan to install and wire lighting into those rooms as part of this upgrade.
Additionally, there is a major issue over the kitchen area, where we’ve been relying on old solar panels for electricity. These panels were underpowered from the beginning and have now completely failed — no longer providing power to the batteries. This has left the kitchen in a difficult situation, especially with the demands of feeding the children daily. To correct this, we need to install new solar panels capable of delivering 2100 watts of input. That means setting up seven 300-watt panels, which will allow the batteries to charge fully and reliably support daily use.
The total cost for these upgrades is $1,945, and we are actively fundraising to make this happen. If you feel led to contribute, you can find various donation buttons on our website, or feel free to reach out to us directly if you need assistance with the giving process. Every gift, no matter the size, brings us closer to restoring Gathaithi OVC to a safe and fully functional space for the children.
Alongside the facility repairs, we are also behind on raising school fees for all our orphanages and outreach programs. The children are currently on holiday, and we urgently need to secure funds before the start of the second school term. We need to raise $3,000 to cover school fees and give each child a chance to return to school with everything they need. This is a significant burden, and we are asking for your help to lift it.
On a positive note, we are pleased to let you know that the fence repair at Agape OVC in Uganda has been fully completed! This has brought safety and stability to the compound, and we’re deeply thankful to everyone who supported that effort.
As we continue to stretch every resource to meet both practical and educational needs, we are in need of more dedicated partners to walk with us financially. Even with all the progress, we are still struggling to meet the most basic needs across our locations. Your ongoing support means the world to us — and even more to the children who benefit from it daily.
We are praying for new hearts to be stirred and for more faithful friends to join us on this journey.
With gratitude and hope…Baruch Hashem.
