Progress Report on the Chicken Coop Project at Messianic Hope Orphanage in Gilgil

We are pleased to share the exciting progress of the Chicken Coop Project at Messianic Hope Orphanage in Gilgil. This initiative is part of our ongoing efforts to support and empower orphanages, helping them become more self-sufficient and reduce their dependence on external funding for day-to-day operations.

Currently, we are in the final stages of constructing the sidewalls and roofing of the chicken coop. These key structural elements are critical to creating a secure and protected environment for the chickens, which will be an integral part of the orphanage’s self-sufficiency. Once the roofing and sidewalls are completed, the coop will be ready for the next phase of development: the installation of internal cages. This next step will allow us to house over 300 chickens comfortably, providing the orphanage with a steady source of fresh eggs and poultry, which will significantly help with their nutritional needs.

The impact of this project goes beyond just providing food. By creating a sustainable food source, we aim to drastically reduce the daily running costs of the orphanage. With the increasing costs of food and other essential supplies, it is crucial that the orphanage has its own resources to rely on. This project will also create opportunities for the older children at the orphanage to learn about agriculture and animal husbandry, giving them valuable skills for their future.

The goal of this chicken coop, like all of our projects for orphanages, is to foster long-term sustainability. By establishing small-scale, self-sufficient initiatives like this, we are working to ensure that orphanages can meet their own needs without relying entirely on donations and external support. This will ultimately free up resources for other areas of development, allowing the orphanages to continue offering a loving and nurturing environment for the children in their care.
