WITNESSES

No matter how you scrutinize the events happening in the world today… there has never been so much focus on end times Revelation and understanding.

A good teacher gets a student to think and find the answer through questioning everything themselves.
So I am going to try and be a good teacher today….

Many people are confused and love to debate over this issue of the two witnesses given to us in revelation.

I am hoping today’s lesson will help give you a little insight into what I see as who the two witnesses actually are. In order to do this you first need to understand what is the meaning of the term WITNESSES.

WITNESSES

” but you will receive power when the Ruach Hakodesh comes up on you…. you will be my Witnesses both in Yerushalayim and in all of Y’hudah and Shomron, indeed to the ends of the Earth !!”
Acts 1:8 CJB

The Book of Acts is actually titled….. The Acts of the Emissaries of Yeshua the Messiah….. keep this in the back of your mind as we go through this…… especially regarding the two witnesses being called as Emissaries.

Let me begin with this opening statement ……
Witnessing is not something we do…….
Witnessing is someone we are.
We must not confuse our identity with a practice we can switch on and off.
Being a witness is not a choice !!
We become Witnesses of Messiah as a consequence of the Ruach HaQuodesh Holy Spirit dwelling and living within us.
But here is the question we need to ask ourselves…..
Are we going to be a good or bad witness ?
Are we going to be a true or false witness about Yeshua Hamashiach.
Remember the lesson of one of the great Apostles denying Messiah before His crucifixion….
Had the story ended there you would never even know Peter has been a great apostle…

Being a witness involves more than speaking the right words…. it also involves actions !!!!
Our words need authentication, which is why we need works, our works need an explanation, which is why we need words.
For example, when Nicodemus was going to question Yeshua in secret, he said….. ” Rabbi, we know it is from God that you have come as a teacher, for no one can do these miracles you perform unless God is with him.” Yochanan/ John 3:2 CJB.
In other words, there were things about not only the Miracles….but the behaviour and character of Yeshua Hamashiach, not just words, that defied natural explanation or logic.

We may not do miracles like Yeshua, but there will be a noticeable difference in our actions and character when we live by the Spirit.
And just as it tells us in scripture to test all spirits….
The defining evidence is the fruit being shown !!

The sad reality is many Christians and Messianic Believers do not live by the Spirit, and their lives, character, and actions and in many cases words, suggest to those in the world that their religion has nothing to offer.
When Christians, Messianics and Hebrew roots people act self-righteously or adopt an arrogant attitude, observers on the outside will respond, ” if this is there religion, if this represents their God, I want no part of it.”

A true witness for Messiah dies to their own agenda…… and lives for Messiah .
They are empowered by His Spirit to face any situation !
Yet there are many especially Christians who seem to have no idea what it means for Messiah to be sufficient in their lives and circumstances.
This is really evident today as I am seeing so many them gripped with fear and distress over these global issues right now.

They do not know what it means to draw on His strength, not only to claim victory over sin or from the law of the Spirit of Life to set them free from the law of Sin…. but to even have the confidence to let go of fear and to walk boldly into whatever they may have to face, even death.
They are bound every bit as much as their non-believing neighbour because they are still living in dependence on themselves.

Because we are true followers of Yeshua Hamashiach/ Jesus Christ, people are watching us !! This is why we must take seriously that we are HIS WITNESSES !!
So the question I asked you today…..
Is there a different to your words and actions that points people to Messiah ??
Do you live by the Holy Spirit Ruach HaQuodesh empowering, letting our lives reveal His Work and Character ??
We are often the only Bible anyone has ever read…..
So our lives must be Witnesses to Him that draw others to want the difference we have in Messiah.
May His light shine powerfully through you today !!
