We are excited to announce that our Village Outreach is embarking on one of our most impactful and ambitious projects yet — the construction of a two-level Women and Widows Shelter. This center will serve as a safe haven, a place of healing, and a foundation for empowerment for the women and widows in our community. It is a dream we have carried in our hearts for a long time, and now, with your help, we are ready to make it a reality.
This shelter will be more than just a building. It will be a beacon of hope for women who have nowhere else to turn, providing them not only with a roof over their heads but also with the tools, skills, and care they need to rebuild their lives. The facility will include a Medical Centre/Dispensary, Sewing Shops, and other income-generating activities that will equip women with the means to become self-sufficient and restore dignity and independence to their lives.
We envision a two-level structure. The ground floor, estimated to cost $70,000, will house the Medical Centre, which will serve both the shelter’s residents and the wider community. The second level, estimated at $50,000, will provide housing facilities and rooms for training and small-scale businesses such as sewing and tailoring. These amounts include all essential amenities, such as piped-in water and basic utilities, ensuring that the facility is fully functional once construction is complete.
Our Medical Centre will fill a crucial gap in the community. Currently, the nearest medical facility is several miles away, leaving many residents — especially women, widows, and children — without access to timely healthcare. With this new dispensary, we aim to bring affordable and accessible medical services closer to those who need them most. We believe that good health is the foundation of empowerment, and this centre will help us care for both the physical and emotional well-being of our people.
Alongside the Medical Centre, we are establishing Sewing Shops and exploring other income-generating ventures that will suit the needs and skills of the women in the area. Many of these women are widows or single mothers struggling to provide for their families. By offering them a space to learn, work, and earn an income, we are giving them the chance to reclaim their independence and contribute meaningfully to the community. Our goal is to foster long-term sustainability — not just to offer temporary relief, but to create lasting change.
At the moment, we are in the final stages of completing payment for the land and securing all necessary legal documentation. Once these steps are finalized, we will be ready to break ground and begin construction. This is a huge undertaking, and we cannot do it without your partnership.
