Good morning from here in Kenya, and from our family to yours blessed preparation day.

I am praying that you all enjoyed the teaching on renewing of the mind. Today I am going to carry on from that understanding…. to the second part of what we must do once we have renewed our minds…… our flesh desires will always battle with the Holy Spirit’s work.

The battle is not something that is done for us, we need to engage in this battle ourselves.

So these are the actions we are called to do in obedience so that we do not Fade.

DISCIPLINE OF THE WILL

” Therefore, put to death the earthly parts of your nature…. sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed (which is a form of Idolatry) ”     Colossians 3:5   CJB

HASHEM has given us a mind, the means by which He directs our will.

This involves not only a Discipline of the Mind…….

But also, a Discipline of the Will, whereby our genuine desire is, put to death anything outside of the will of Elohim.

Rav Saul/ Paul says, ” For you have died, and your life is hidden with the Messiah in God. “Saul / Paul is not talking about attitudes and behaviour, but our position before Hashem. It is past tense. If we have truly repented and accepted Yeshua Hamashiach, then we have died.

When?? Actually over 2000 years ago outside the city walls of Yerushalayim.

In Galatians 2:20 Rav Saul/Paul says, “I have been crucified with Messiah, ” which is absolutely true of every Messianic Believer and Follower.

In Romans 6 verses 3 and 4, he explains, “Don’t you know that those of us who have been immersed into Messiah Yeshua have been immersed into His death? Through immersion into His death were buried with Him…. so that just as, through the Glory of the Father, the Messiah was raised from the dead, likewise we too might live a new life “.

To put it simply, what is true of Yeshua becomes true of us, because as Messianic disciples we are united to Hamashiach in His death, burial and Resurrection. He was made sin so that we may be resurrected to new life; one that DISPLAYS THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF MESSIAH.

Rav Saul/ Paul tells us, “But now, put them all away …. anger, exasperation, meanness, slander and obscene talk. ” Colossians 3:8 CJB

This is the evidence of being truly born again!!!

Rav Saul/ Paul is saying what we need to do is to knock these things completely out, so far from us that it’s never part of our nature, because they are contrary to the nature of Yeshua Hamashiach who is seeking to express Himself in our lives.

Our will must be involved!!! BECAUSE WE CANNOT LIVE THE MESSIANIC LIFE SIMPLY DRIFTING ALONG AND HOPING ITS GOING TO WORK OUT!!!

The Drift will always be away from Messiah to where it is most pleasurable and convenient for us.

We live in a strongly secular world, so discipline of the will is essential to put to death anything inconsistent with Elohim. This takes unselfish obedience!!!

Do not buy into this new age Christianity that’s telling you you cannot overcome your sin, that it’s all nailed to the cross!!

The Christian life, no different than the Jews who follow the same Messiah….. is lived in relationship with Yeshua Hamashiach/ Jesus Christ.

In complete dependence on Him, our lives are intended to display the fruit of the Spirit!!!

Not the fruit of the Christian or the Messianic disciple……. BUT OF THE SPIRIT, which is only spiritually possible…….. LOVE, JOY, PEACE, FORBEARANCE, KINDNESS, GOODNESS, FAITHFULNESS, GENTLENESS AND SELF CONTROL Galatians 5:22-23.

In verse 25 Paul adds, ” Since it is through the Spirit that we have Life, let it also be through the Spirit that we order our lives day by day. “

This requires DISCIPLINE of the WILL ……..in which we are committed to living our lives under the Kingship of Yeshua Hamashiach Adonai.

Our Prayer; Heavenly Father, I ask for Your help in putting to death anything in my life that displeases You.

Help me day by day to live under your Sovereign leadership.
