There are so many teachings on renewing our minds, but I have yet to see anyone bring the most important aspect of repentance into these teachings.

So much focus on the Torah and the first five books of the Bible…. and complete disregard for what the Master of Torah taught us in the Brit Quo’desh/ New Testament.

The Battlefield is in the mind and that is a fact.
When messiah said if you even think about a woman with lust, you have already committed adultery……
If you even think angry thoughts towards your neighbour, you have already committed murder….

This actually even goes beyond this when it comes to what we think and how we rationalize and even interpret the words on the page in Scripture.
So many people are trying to rationalize and interpret Torah without hearing what the master of Torah says in the New Testament…. and being drawn into a rabbit hole that takes you in so many directions that we are seeing so many denominations coming out of Hebrew roots, it is no different than Christianity. I am even seeing Hebrew roots cults teaching and preaching polygamy!!!

And there is a very good reason for why this is happening. I hope you can see it in today’s teaching.

FROM MENTAL TO MORAL

“Do not let yourselves be conformed to the standards of the ‘ olam hazeh (pattern of this world). Instead, keep letting yourselves be transformed by the renewing of your minds,”
Excerpt of Romans 12:2 CJB

Before we begin, this part of the passage is one of the most misused, and taken out of context passages, especially in the Messianic and Hebrew roots circles because it is not popular to teach on the mind being a battlefield.

There is a sequence to the way temptation infiltrates our lives.
Just as small temptations often lead to Bigger Temptations down the road, sin begins with the mind and moves to moral decisions.

All spiritual experience, whether good or bad, begins in the mind.
When Hasatan tempted Eve, he opened with a question designed to confuse her, and created doubt.
He asked her, ” Did God really say, ‘ You are not to eat from any tree in the garden?”
Most people miss something in her response…. she says; ” we may eat from the fruit of the trees of the garden, but about the fruit of the tree in the middle of the garden God said, ā€œYou are neither to eat from it nor touch it, or you will die; ….” B’rsheet/ Genesis 3:1-3 CJB
Eve was only partly correct in that statement. She was right to say they could not eat from the tree in the middle…. BUT…… Hashem did not say anything regarding not being able to touch it.
A complete exaggeration, taking Elohim’s Word out of context. Can we see the same thing happening in all denominations today when it comes to all of these various doctrines and interpretations that take people down rabbit trails, leading to cult mentality?
This is where the adversary gets a foothold and the Battlefield is in your mind.

What Hasatan did was cast Eve’s mind into doubt. He first implied that what Elohim said was unreasonable, then he got her to think she had the right to ” INTERPRET ” what He said! From not eating it to not even touching it.
The devil responded with a challenge; ” it is not true that you will surely die, because God knows that on the day you eat from it, your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil. ” B’rsheet/Genesis 3:4-5.
These are all attacks on the mind. Hasatan broke down Eve’s resistance, getting her to rationalize that disobeying Hashem was actually for her own good.

Temptation often begins with the idea that Yod Hey Vav Hey YHVH’S Word is unreasonable!!
Some people even dilute certain passages by saying, ” G-d couldn’t have meant that literally” or most common, ” we live in a different cultural moment than back then.” Lol
We had better remember to let Scripture inform how we view the world…. and this is not done by Simply cherry picking your favourite verse!!! CONTEXT!!
It is not how we view the world that informs our reading of scripture!!
This is why I tell people to turn off the news and get rid of their televisions.
The Bible, and only the Bible reveals the mind of Elohim, and without a firm rooting in His Word, we may begin to rationalize certain things as acceptable!!

The word Teshuvah/ Repent not only means to turn as many Christians love to teach…… literally means to change one’s mind.
The adversary convinced Eve to repent negatively…… to change her mind from truth to error!
When she consented, she made the moral decision to disobey Hashem’s command.
When you are a follower of Yeshua Hamashiach, then repentance follows a similar pattern; mental thinking leads to moral choosing!
Adonai calls every believer to daily bring our minds into conformity with His truth.
The temptation to sin will remain, but when we keep our minds fixed on what Elohim has said, He will then transform our hearts so that we increasingly desire to obey His Word and defend what is right, even in the face of persecution and death.
This is how you know if you are truly born-again Believer.
And it is only through this renewal of your moral and mental self that you will make it through this great trial and tribulation.
Baruch Hashem

Our Prayer Heavenly Father
I repent of my thinking that leads to choosing sin.
Continue to humble me and help me to take my mind off myself, and have the mind of Messiah.
Thank You Adonai that You are changing my heart too match Your Word and Your Way. Amein.
